Circle plans to expand its reach into roughly 40 emerging and developing countries, with Chief Executive and Chairman Jeremy Allaire citing rising interest in stablecoins and digital finance.
The remarks came in Bangkok on Friday, Oct. 16, alongside discussions involving the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank. Allaire identified Southeast Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America as regions where demand is increasing.
He said blockchain is moving beyond its early-use period toward adoption at a broader scale.
At June 30, 2026, the close of the second quarter, $73.3 billion of USD Coin (USDC) was in circulation, 19% above the year-earlier level.
Separately, Circle Payments Network had 175 enrolled financial institutions. Its $14.7 billion annualized transaction pace was based on activity during the final 30 days of the quarter, making it a run-rate measure rather than a tally of payments made throughout Q2. A Nium partnership links the network with the company’s payout system, enabling local-currency settlement across a footprint spanning more than 190 countries.
