Alphabet's third-quarter revenue climbed 25% and Google Cloud sales more than doubled, while net income fell despite stronger operating income and a sharp reversal in non-operating results.
The company reported $127.58 billion in revenue for the three months ended Sept. 30, up 25% from a year earlier. Net income available to common stockholders was $26.17 billion, compared with $34.98 billion in the same quarter last year. Diluted earnings per share declined to $2.12 from $2.87, while operating income rose 30% to $40.58 billion.
The line labeled other income (expense), net, shifted from $12.76 billion in income a year earlier to an $8.22 billion expense. Alphabet's earnings release said a net loss on equity securities reduced net income by $6.7 billion and diluted earnings per share by $0.55.
Google Cloud revenue reached $30.71 billion, up 103%. Alphabet said demand for enterprise AI infrastructure and solutions led the segment's growth, while sales of TPU systems also contributed. Google Services revenue rose 11% to $96.3 billion. Within that segment, Search and other revenue increased 12% to $63.35 billion. Alphabet said Search query growth reached its fastest year-over-year pace in five years.
Alphabet said the quarter marked its 13th consecutive period of double-digit revenue growth. The results put growth in cloud, services and Search alongside declines in net income and diluted earnings per share.
