NEW YORK, Dec. 14, 2016 -- Dr. Carlos Encarnacion, Physician at Texas Oncology, has been selected to join the Physician Board at the American Health Council. He will be sharing his knowledge and expertise in Medical Oncology and Hematology and Cancer Genetics.

Dr. Encarnacion has been active in the healthcare industry for the past 23 years and specifically 20 years at Texas Oncology. He obtained his MD from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in 1986 and completed his Fellowship in Oncology from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 1993.
Texas Oncology, a statewide physician-led practice, conducts innovative research and delivers leading-edge technology and treatment options. Founders of the practice pioneered community-based care to enable more cancer patients to receive high-quality care while staying close to the critical support of family and friends.
Dr. Encarnacion’s day-to-day responsibilities include treating all forms of cancer, with a specialty in breast cancer. He is the area Medical Director, oversees the local Clinical Genetic Program, and serves as Site Research Leader. He also chairs the Cancer Committee at Providence Health Center.
Dr. Encarnacion attributes his success to his interaction with his patients and enjoys working with an excellent crew of dedicated professionals. His long-term goals include improving cancer awareness in the local community and continued upward movement through the research program within his network.
Dr. Encarnacion’s many awards and honors include: Dean’s List, University of Puerto Rico; Alpha-Omega-Alpha Honor Medical Society; Certificate of Merit, University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine; Scientific Research Award, ACP Puerto Rico Chapter; American Cancer Society Fellowship; Ciba-Geigy Fellowship Grant, Katherine Wood Johnson Travel Award; Upjohn Travel Award; Fellow, American College of Physicians; and Friend of the ACS Award. He has been a speaker for the American Cancer Society, Providence Cancer Program, and Texas Oncology in multiple venues.
Dr. Encarnacion is affiliated with the American College of Physicians, Texas Medical Association, McLennan County Medical Society, and American Society of Clinical Oncology, as well as the non-profit organization Commemorative Air Force (CAF).
In his free time, Dr. Encarnacion enjoys working out, beekeeping, and flying.
