Coders HQ will be able to offer app development instruction using Apple resources after receiving education training-center accreditation, the UAE Artificial Intelligence Office said Oct. 29, the UAE’s annual Codes Day.

Swift, Apple’s language for building software for its devices, will be central to the instruction. The office said learners will move through the stages of creating an app, from design to development and testing, with Apple’s Develop in Swift materials supporting the courses.

The arrangement also includes opportunities for instructors to build their skills and exchange knowledge with educational institutions in other countries, the office said. Dr. Abdelrahman Al Mahmoud, director of department at the UAE Artificial Intelligence Office, said developing technology skills is central to the country’s competitiveness.

Coders HQ is part of the UAE’s National Programme for Coders. Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported that the initiative launched Jan. 11, 2022, under Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s directives, with more than 40 companies in the UAE and abroad as partners. WAM said its goals included developing coding skills and supporting coders’ work, as well as helping the country build a global hub for coders and the digital economy.

Apple’s 2025 App Store Transparency Report lists 2,172,472 apps and 60,597,750 registered Apple developers. Separately, Apple says developers selling digital goods and services through the App Store have earned more than $550 billion since the platform launched in 2008. That figure covers those sales, not earnings by all registered developers.

The UAE Artificial Intelligence Office did not specify when training will begin, how many people it will serve or what the course schedule will be. Its announcement also did not say whether participants will receive a credential.
