Apple plans to bring Alibaba’s Qwen model to selected iPhone features in China, a move Citi says may broaden use of the AI and increase demand for Alibaba cloud computing.
Citi maintained its Buy rating on Alibaba on Nov. 2. The bank’s assessment is that wider Qwen use could create more inference workloads for Alibaba’s cloud services. Inference is the computing used to generate responses from AI models, and Citi’s expected benefit depends on Qwen use growing.
Apple plans Qwen access through selected Siri, Writing Tools and Visual Intelligence functions. The company says Siri AI will not be included in iOS 27.3, limiting the scope of the planned features.
A Nov. 2 snapshot put an Alibaba-linked contract on Hyperliquid at $101.26, up 2.54% over 24 hours, with about $2.44 million in 24-hour trading volume. That is a derivative quote, not the price of Alibaba’s New York-listed American depositary shares (ADSs). EconoTimes previously covered a separate Alibaba-linked Binance futures contract.
Apple’s next scheduled step is developer testing on Nov. 4. The company plans public availability in December alongside iOS 27.3.
