POWAY, Calif., Feb. 08, 2018 -- Apricorn, the leading manufacturer of software-free, 256-bit AES XTS hardware-encrypted USB drives, today announced the release of the 12TB versions of the Aegis Padlock DT and Padlock DT FIPS USB 3.0 Desktop Drives. Like all Apricorn secure drives, these new high-capacity models are completely software-free, Aegis Configurator compatible, cross-platform compatible with Windows, Linux, Mac, Android, and Chrome. Hardware encryption means that all authentication and encryption processes take place within the device itself, free of any software and sharing no authentication or encryption information with the host computer. This self-contained authentication and encryption makes them readily compatible in applications where no OS is present such as embedded systems, machines without a keyboard.
Featuring the largest encrypted external USB storage capacity in their class, the Aegis Padlock DT and Aegis Padlock DT FIPS - USB 3.0 Desktop Drives offer eight capacities ranging from 1TB, up to the new 12TB of secure storage. Fully hardware-based and 256-bit AES XTS encrypted, the Padlock DT series bolsters onboard keypad PIN authentication and ultra-fast USB 3.1 (3.0) data transfer speeds. All data is encrypted on the fly as it’s being written to the drive, and the devices’ PINs and encyption keys remain encrypted when the drives are at rest.
“As data breaches and protection regulations pile up globally, it’s the corporation’s responsibility to keep sensitive data safe or face serious financial ramifications and penalties,” said Mike McCandless, vice president of sales and marketing at Apricorn. “We believe the best way to protect large stockpiles of sensitive data is to take it offline and archive it to hardware-encrypted drives. The new high-capacity Padlock DT is both an effective and economical way to do that.”
These devices provide a simple and secure method for transporting sensitive data outside the firewall or storing offline and help companies in regulated industries adhere to compliance regulations including finance, government, power & energy, legal and healthcare.
