TEHRAN, Oct. 25 (EconoTimes) — Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran would keep its policies whether or not fighting resumes, as President Donald Trump left open further U.S. action and said Iran might make a deal.
At the opening of a documentation center and museum named for former foreign minister Seyyed Kamal Kharrazi, Araghchi said there had been two earlier attempts and predicted another attack would produce no different result, Iran’s state-run Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported. In an English translation of his remarks, he said, “If there is any rationality, they will not try military action against Iran again.”
The Associated Press reported that Trump spoke after voting in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Saturday. He said he might have to “finish it off” or Iran might make a deal. In a video posted by Rapid Response 47, Trump answered a question about a possible attack with “maybe tomorrow”; the exchange did not establish that a strike had been decided.
Araghchi also said shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and the waterway’s governance would remain changed after what he called a 40-day war. He said U.S. bases had failed to provide security to the countries hosting them and urged regional governments to take responsibility for their own security, IRNA reported.
The reports did not identify a date for further talks or a final U.S. decision on strikes.
