SAN DIEGO, May 07, 2018 -- Maybe our kids' attention disorders and higher rates of mental and physical illness aren't attributable to thimerosal, or air pollution, or high-fructose corn syrup, or any of dozens of environmental factors we've been blaming. Maybe, as journalist Richard Louv posits, it's simply a case of "nature-deficit disorder." He describes a world where kids are inside "mesmerized" by their surfeit of technology, and their parents are terrified of letting them out-of-doors for fear of kidnapping, abuse, or any of the other terrors dramatized on the daily reruns of Law & Order. Kids are losing the "sense of wonder," he says, and that can be regained simply - from the "empty lot nearby" to your own backyard. "One boy I met said he wanted to play inside because that's where all the electrical outlets are," he adds. More information at this link.

Diagnosing and Administering Attention Deficit Disorder Treatment
For those who suffer from it, there is no sooner time than now to receive Attention Deficit Disorder treatment. It is tough enough to deal with later in life and if it's detected early on it should be dealt with without delay. If you're a parent or concerned teacher take note of the child's behavior as soon as it shows signs of being problematic.
Observation early on is key to detecting the onset of Attention Deficit Disorder. Knowing all the facts about it will make it possible to be effective in catching it early. Click on the "Attention Deficit Disorder Symptoms" link at left to learn the most prevalent and observable symptoms that manifest. With help from that link and other resources both on and off the Internet, you can have the most significant impact at the earliest time.
Methylphenidate Warnings
Methylphenidate is a Central Nervous System (CNS) stimulant widely used to treat Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). More commonly, methylphenidate is known by its brand name, Ritalin. Doctors are unsure precisely how the drug interacts with the CNS, but believe its stimulant effect results from an activation of the brainstem arousal mechanism. Adderall has also been used to treat ADHD and most of the time this drug is abused. If Adderall abuse is present on someone you know, don’t hesitate to call a drug addiction treatment center.
Psychological treatment often accompanies methylphenidate in the fight against ADHD symptoms such as impulsivity and distractibility. Many physicians, however, are reluctant to prescribe stimulants to children, so often a course of psychosocial intervention precedes a methylphenidate regimen. More information at this link.
