Autoliv has acquired MCF Safety Belts S.r.l., an Italian supplier with more than 500 customers, extending its seatbelt business into commercial, specialty and off-road vehicles.
The automotive safety supplier announced the deal’s completion on Nov. 3 after receiving final regulatory approval. It did not disclose the purchase price, financing terms or financial targets for the acquisition.
MCF has about 60 employees and annual sales of around €10 million, Autoliv said. Founded in 1989, the company is based in Pancalieri near Turin.
Autoliv plans to build on MCF’s operations to serve European customers needing smaller orders and a range of seatbelt designs. The acquisition also adds standard and customized products to Autoliv’s offerings for vehicles used on and off roads.
The company sees opportunities to sell across the two businesses’ customer bases, reach additional markets and pursue selective procurement and operational synergies. It said MCF would gain access to Autoliv’s customers, technology and purchasing scale.
Autoliv expects MCF’s current management team to remain. It also intends to retain the smaller company’s flexible way of operating and its proximity to customers.
