The Colorado Avalanche beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 6-3 at Ball Arena on Oct. 24, with Nathan MacKinnon contributing a goal and three assists, ESPN reported. MacKinnon's contribution to the Colorado victory included both scoring a goal himself and assisting on goals scored by his teammates.

Colorado moved to six wins, four losses and one overtime or shootout loss. Tampa Bay finished with seven wins and three losses. The records after the game thus included an overtime or shootout loss for the Avalanche, while the Lightning's record consisted of wins and losses without an overtime or shootout loss.

Nazem Kadri scored his first goal of the season for the Avalanche. His goal in the victory over Tampa Bay opened his scoring account for the season. Kadri joined MacKinnon among Colorado's goal scorers in the game at Ball Arena.

MacKinnon's goal and three assists gave him a part in four of Colorado's six goals. His involvement in the Avalanche's scoring therefore extended beyond the goal he scored, with his assists also contributing to the team's victory over the Lightning.

The game drew 18,104 spectators to Ball Arena. That was the attendance for Colorado's victory over Tampa Bay, the game in which MacKinnon contributed as both a goal scorer and a provider of assists.

The Montreal Canadiens beat the Chicago Blackhawks 4-1 at United Center in the other completed NHL game on the Oct. 24 scoreboard. Montreal's victory over Chicago and Colorado's victory over Tampa Bay were the completed games listed on that scoreboard.

Jake Evans scored twice for Montreal and assisted on Kaiden Guhle's goal. Those contributions gave Evans a part in three of the Canadiens' four goals. As with MacKinnon in Colorado's victory, Evans contributed to his team's scoring through both goals and assists.

Evans' scoring contribution included his own goals as well as his involvement in the goal scored by Guhle. The Canadiens' victory at United Center therefore featured Evans both finishing scoring opportunities himself and assisting a teammate's goal.

Montreal finished with five wins, three losses and two overtime or shootout losses. Chicago's record stood at three wins and seven losses. Those were the teams' records after the Canadiens' victory over the Blackhawks.

The attendance at United Center was 19,592, ESPN's scoreboard showed. That crowd attended the Montreal victory in which Evans scored and assisted, with Guhle also scoring for the Canadiens.
