Axon said U.S. agencies added more than 22,000 body-worn cameras and digital evidence-management licenses combined during an unspecified period, while a separate Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) award listing shows a $7.94 million equipment purchase.
The company’s Oct. 15 release said the combined tally included translation tools but did not provide separate counts for cameras and licenses or identify the agencies behind them. Axon described the period only as “this year.” Although the U.S. government’s fiscal 2026 ended Sept. 30, the release did not explicitly tie the figure to that fiscal year. It also did not provide a contract value for the camera and license additions.
Axon also said the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) chose its Dedrone platform for airspace monitoring, drone identification and threat mitigation under an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract. The company disclosed neither a contract value nor a task-order number.
Axon said the VA added more than 1,600 TASER 10 devices for its police force. In a procurement justification, the VA estimated a purchase of 1,700 devices for 139 VA police departments and the Law Enforcement Training Center, with an estimated cost of up to $8,841,031.01 for a one-year period ending Sept. 29, 2027. USAspending lists contract 36C10D26P0093 at $7,944,482.79, also ending Sept. 29, 2027.
A separate USAspending entry records a $3,725,994.55 Department of Justice purchase order to Dedrone Defense LLC, which began Aug. 19. Axon’s SEC filing identifies Dedrone Defense as its subsidiary.
The VA justification says the devices must work with the agency’s existing Axon Evidence system for diagnostics, evidence retention and chain-of-custody requirements. It cited the expense and disruption of bringing in another platform as reasons for a sole-source purchase, and said historical prices would be used to assess whether the proposed cost was fair and reasonable. The agency said it would continue monitoring conducted-energy-device technology and interoperability for future procurement; the document gives no date for another procurement decision.
