On Oct. 27, BWH Hotels announced WorldHotels will become the portfolio's masterbrand, a shift spanning 18 brands and more than 4,000 hotels in 100 countries and bringing two rewards programs together.
Properties will keep their own names, signs and flags, BWH said, so the portfolio-level change will leave individual hotels identified as they are today. The company said research and guest feedback showed many travelers know only some of its brands. BWH said the broader WorldHotels identity is intended to make the range easier to understand and raise owners' visibility.
Members of Best Western Rewards and WorldHotels Rewards are due to enter the combined WorldHotels Rewards program Jan. 5, 2027. BWH said it will offer three membership tiers. Members are to retain the value of points they already hold, access to member rates, status matching and points that do not expire. The company put the programs' combined membership at approximately 70 million.
Larry Cuculic, president and CEO of WorldHotels, said, “WorldHotels gives us a clearer way to tell our story.” BWH said it had launched a new website and redesigned mobile app as part of the strategy. The related hotel-discovery platform drew on insights gathered from hotel teams over more than 10,000 hours, the company said. BWH said the digital tools are meant to help travelers find properties and increase owners' visibility and direct-booking opportunities.
Skift reported that BWH told it the company would fund the rebrand and a January campaign without increasing owners' fees, dues or assessments. Skift reported that Cuculic pointed to the industry practice of using an upscale brand as a masterbrand, citing IHG's 2003 renaming. BWH said it plans to provide further rewards-program details on Nov. 16, 2026.
