Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš said Democrats’ gains in Congress would constrain President Donald Trump’s agenda, predicting impeachment efforts and presidential vetoes through the rest of Trump’s term, Echo24 reported.

Democrats won both the House and Senate in Tuesday’s midterm elections. Babiš said he had expected the result but considered the Democrats’ victory significant.

Echo24 reported that Babiš made the comments Wednesday before leaving for talks with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk. Even with the new congressional balance, Babiš expected Trump to continue pursuing his own priorities.

Babiš also expressed hope that Trump would return to his promise to end the war in Ukraine and the conflict in the Strait of Hormuz, Echo24 reported.
