Bad weather forced rescuers to pause the search Monday for eight people missing on India's Kedartal route.

The Uttarkashi District Emergency Operations Centre (DEOC) action report said deteriorating weather halted the search, with crews based at Kachhi Dhang.

Uttarakhand State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) Commandant Arpan Yaduvanshi said a ground team found tents, bags and other belongings but did not find any members of the missing group.

The missing party includes seven trekkers and a guide. The DEOC said four support workers — three porters and a cook — were found safe near Kachhi Dhang.

The group left Gangotri on Oct. 27 and was due back Oct. 29.

Heavy snowfall and avalanche blockages disrupted the return route.
