Portland, OR, April 20, 2016 -- BahFed Corp, a small, veteran- and minority-owned business, announced today that it has received 8(a) certification from the Small Business Administration (SBA).
"We are very excited to be working with the SBA,” says Ken Paul, president of BahFed. “This certification will help us expand our business as we continue to provide high quality services and solutions to our federal government customers."
The 8(a) Business Development Program assists small, disadvantaged businesses in gaining access to government contracting. Additionally, it helps firms build their competitive and institutional know-how with specialized business training, counseling, marketing assistance and high-level executive development provided by the SBA and its resource partners.
BahFed—a provider of IT equipment, office supplies and support solutions for federal, state and local government customers—has been preparing for the possibility of 8(a) certification for some time.
"In addition to our highly trained staff and the portfolio of products, we’ve built the operational infrastructure that allows us to be efficient, responsive and adaptable as our business continues to grow," says Paul.
The 8(a) certification and business development assistance lasts for nine years and will allow BahFed to pursue sole-source federal government contracts and set aside contracts allocated to 8(a) certified companies.
To become 8(a) certified, applicants undergo a rigorous review process. Once certified, 8(a) participants have annual reviews and systematic evaluations from the SBA district office. BahFed’s certification will expire in March 2025.
