The All Progressives Congress (APC) chapter in Nigeria’s Bauchi State invited Gov. Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed to join, saying it knew of no alliance with him outside its platform and that membership could improve federal-state coordination.
The chapter’s Oct. 21 statement urged the public to treat reports of an arrangement cautiously. It said it knew of no political agreement or alliance involving Mohammed outside the APC platform. The release did not name who had raised the claims or describe any proposed terms.
The Bauchi State Government announced on May 2, 2026, that Mohammed had left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) after a meeting with political stakeholders.
The Bauchi APC also said Mohammed continued to associate with the APM and campaign alongside its candidates, including the party’s presidential candidate. The campaign account was the chapter’s assertion. The statement welcomed what it characterized as Mohammed’s favorable comments on President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, economic reforms and health-sector interventions.
The chapter presented joining the APC as a way to improve cooperation between Bauchi and the federal government, attract development opportunities and increase access to federal programs. It said those potential benefits made party membership important for the state. Shehu Dauda Muh’d Udubo, identified in the release as the chapter’s public relations officer, said Bauchi was “too strategic to remain on the side-line of Nigeria’s mainstream politics.”
