Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent backed efforts to support Venezuela’s economic recovery, increase energy production and reconnect its financial sector during talks on Nov. 2, the U.S. Treasury Department said.
The efforts aim to restore confidence and attract investment, the department said in its Nov. 2 statement, “READOUT: Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent’s Meeting with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Oliver Blanco”.
Bessent and Blanco discussed developments in Venezuela and opportunities to advance the Trump administration’s approach of stabilization, recovery and transition, the department said.
The department said Bessent affirmed the administration’s commitment to reviving Venezuela’s critical sectors. It described support for those sectors as part of efforts to lay the foundations for greater prosperity in Venezuela.
