U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent called on China to implement its Busan commitments fully and immediately during a Nov. 6 call with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng, the Treasury said.

U.S. Trade Representative Jameison Greer also participated, according to the department’s Nov. 6 statement, “READOUT: Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent’s Call with China’s Vice Premier He Lifeng.”

Bessent raised concerns about recent Chinese actions and said further progress depended on concrete results. He said the United States would closely assess China’s implementation of the arrangement.

The officials discussed economic relations between the two countries and implementation of the Busan arrangement. They reaffirmed the value of direct and candid communication, the department said.

Bessent also repeated the Trump administration’s commitment to trade and economic policies that benefit American workers, farmers and businesses and strengthen U.S. economic and national security.
