NEW YORK, May 08, 2018 -- BlueSteps, the career management service by the worldwide Association of Executive Search and Leadership Consultants (AESC), released today its 2018 Executive Career Outlook. Based on a survey of more than 800 senior-level management professionals, Director-level through C-suite, the report reveals executives are more optimistic about the state of the global executive job market compared to recent years.
Findings from the report reveal:
- Executives cite an improved global economy and pro-business policies as the key reason for their improved outlook.
- Executives rank strategic thinking, inspiring and engaging, and emotional intelligence as the top three differentiating attributes of today’s successful leaders.
- Of those executives planning to move jobs in 2018, they cited growth opportunities as the top reason, followed by organizational culture.
- 74% of global executives forecast the Technology sector to have the most growth this year, followed by Healthcare/Life Sciences.
As the global economy has improved, executives worldwide see career opportunities they haven’t experienced at the same level in recent years. Technological innovation is creating new executive roles and Gen X and Millennials see new leadership opportunities as the Baby Boomer generation continues to exit the workforce. For organizations seeking to retain top talent, enhanced focus on development and culture may be key.
Managing Director of BlueSteps, Glenda K. Brown, commented: “Our annual Executive Career Outlook is designed to inform executives on the state of the executive job market across regions, industries and functions so they can better plan their career strategy in the year ahead. Our goal at BlueSteps is to support executives in their careers every step of the way—from developing a personal brand or strengthening interview skills to landing a new position in the C-suite or a first-time board seat.”
