‘Big Little Lies’ season 1’s episode 3, titled "Living the Dream," will follow Madeline’s continuing rivalry with Renata as she schemes to destroy Amabella’s upcoming party by organizing a class trip. Meanwhile, Jane’s turbulent relationship with her son will force her to open up about the past.
The synopsis for “Living the Dream” posted on TV Guide reads, “Madeline (Reese Witherspoon) organizes a trip to compete with Amabella's (Ivy George) birthday party to annoy Renata (Laura Dern). Meanwhile, Celeste's (Nicole Kidman) roller-coaster relationship with Perry (Alexander Skarsgard) continues before their first therapy session with Dr. Reisman (Robin Weigert);
Abigail's (Kathryn Newton) guidance counselor wants to meet with Madeline; Principal Nippal (P.J. Byrne) announces the theme for the fall fund-raiser; and Jane (Shailene Woodley) asks for Madeline's help with Ziggy's (Iain Armitage) family-tree project.”
Madeline and Renata’s rivalry reaches a new low in the upcoming episode of HBO’s drama-dark comedy miniseries based on the book of the same name authored by Liane Moriarty. In the previous episode, titled “Serious Mothering,” Renata fueled Madeline’s rage by intentionally leaving Ziggy out of Amabella’s upcoming birthday party.
According to the recap posted on Entertainment Weekly, the two confronted each other while meeting up in Celeste’s place, to which Renata warns Madeline not to disrupt her daughter’s part. However, it seems that Madeline has more tricks up her sleeve when she invited the entire class to Disney on Ice on the day of Amabella’s event.
Meanwhile, Jane will enlist Madeline’s help with Ziggy’s family-tree project but this is without serious revelations as well as complications. In the sneak preview for episode 3, Ziggy asks his mother about his father. Jane replies, “You don’t have a dad. You know that. I told you the story so many times.”
This prompts Ziggy to go into a rage as he yells, “What is his name for Christ’s sake!” Ziggy then storms away from Jane and Madeline, goes into his own room and slams the door shut.
It seems that Jane will be forced to open up about her mysterious past. Perhaps this will explain her turbulent relationship with her son.
‘Big Little Lies’ season 1’s episode 3, titled "Living the Dream," is scheduled to air on HBO on March 5, 2017. It was directed by Jean-Marc Vallée and written by David E. Kelley. It will be followed by episode 4, titled "Push Comes to Shove," scheduled to be released on March 12.
