Binance's NVDAUSDT equity perpetual gained 1.34% over 24 hours on Oct. 19, but its 217.17 Tether (USDT) quote represented a derivative linked to NVIDIA Corporation stock rather than a share transaction.
The quote was below the contract's 20-day moving average of 227.88 USDT and its 50-day average of 225.22 USDT. It also fell short of the seven-day simple moving average of 217.82 USDT. The 200-day average was 212.18 USDT, below the contract price in that snapshot. One reading cannot establish a sustained downward trend.
Binance says the USDT-settled contract tracks NVIDIA common stock and trades around the clock. Trading the contract does not transfer the company's shares. NVIDIA stock closed at $214.13 on Oct. 16; that share price and the Oct. 19 derivative quote reflect separate markets and dates.
Two technical indicators also gave different readings. Near 20, the stochastic measure approached a level commonly used to flag oversold trading. At about 40, the relative strength index remained above its oversold cutoff of 30. Neither indicator showed that a recovery had begun.
