Binance said customer outflows reached $3.64 billion in the opening nine and a half hours of its phased withdrawal restart Sunday, a figure equal to 2.1% of its reported $171 billion in assets.
The exchange's calculation covered 1 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. ET (06:00 to 15:30 UTC): withdrawals totaled $4.649 billion and deposits $1.01 billion. Binance based the 2.1% comparison on proof-of-reserves data dated Oct. 28. It said the opening surge in activity had since begun to ease.
Separately, Coinbase Senior Director and Product Leader Conor Grogan estimated that suspicious Binance-linked outflows during the breach reached up to $5.8 billion. That estimate concerns suspected transfers during the incident, while Binance's $3.64 billion tally covers customer withdrawals and deposits in the reopening window.
In an update at 7:36 a.m. ET (12:36 UTC), Binance said withdrawals were open across all 15 networks included in Phase One, including Bitcoin (BTC), the Ethereum network, BNB Smart Chain and XRP Ledger. The exchange said it was restoring services in phases after security and readiness checks, prioritizing assets based on demand over the previous week.
Binance said it had covered about 95% of the affected amount and would absorb the stolen funds' financial impact. EconoTimes previously reported on Binance's withdrawal suspension during its security response.
The exchange said an updated proof-of-reserves report based on an Oct. 31 snapshot was expected Monday, Nov. 2.
