Global bitcoin payment service provider BitPay has released a major new enhancement on how its merchants can issue full refunds to bitcoin customers.
BitPay merchants previously used to collect bitcoin wallet addresses from their users to initiate refunds. Now, with the new enhancement, if a customer requests full refund, the merchant support team needs an email address to let their customer get a refund for a fully paid order, the company blog stated. The merchants can then supply this buyer email through the BitPay merchant dashboard or via API.
“When a BitPay merchant confirms an email for refund processing, BitPay will send an email to the bitcoin customer which will allow them to provide a bitcoin refund address. We will notify the customer when we process refunds, which takes place in under two business days for every refund request,” it stated.
The new refund mechanism acts as a simplified, clear refund process for bitcoin customers with no juggling or verifying bitcoin refund addresses for BitPay’s merchants' support teams.
