Bitcoin (BTC) rose 2.19% to $83,317 at 7:45 a.m. ET (11:45 UTC) Wednesday, while exchange balances grew, leaving more of the asset on trading platforms.
CryptoQuant data put the net inflow to exchanges at 3,807 BTC. Exchange reserves stood at 2,458,187 BTC, up 0.15%. The increase shows that exchanges held more bitcoin, but does not establish whether holders sold it.
Trading volume reached $25.78 billion, a 13.13% increase. Bitcoin’s share of the cryptocurrency market slipped 0.05 percentage points to 60.11% despite the price gain.
The Fear and Greed Index rose from 55 to 63, a reading labeled “Greed.” Daily and weekly MACD readings, measures of price momentum, were both positive.
The spent output profit ratio, or SOPR, stood at 0.9987, indicating a small average loss on coins that were spent. Active addresses on the Bitcoin network totaled 648,048 on Oct. 20, up from 632,369 in the previous reading. That count measures network activity, not buying demand.
