Long traders paid funding across five crypto perpetual-futures markets at 7:07 p.m. ET (23:07 UTC) on Oct. 19, while Bitcoin (BTC) held the largest open-interest total at $7.79 billion.

Bitcoin’s total was up 2.17% in the reading. At a mark price of $82,008, its eight-hour funding rate was 0.0099%; 62.3% of accounts held long positions.

Dogecoin (DOGE) had $212.2 million in outstanding contracts, an increase of 0.11%, but its 0.0100% eight-hour funding rate was the highest of the five. Its mark price was $0.0796, with 71.8% of accounts long.

Open interest contracted in XRP and Solana (SOL), the only two markets in the group to record declines. XRP’s total fell 0.88% to $412.2 million; Solana’s dropped 0.31% to $925.2 million. Their eight-hour funding rates remained positive, at 0.0059% and 0.0088%, respectively. XRP’s mark price was $1.30, and Solana’s was $104.99.

Ether (ETH) stood out for its 75.2% long-account share, the highest of the group. ETH had a mark price of $2,406 and an eight-hour funding rate of 0.0059%. Its open interest reached $5.49 billion after a 0.82% increase.

Bitcoin’s eight-hour funding rate was 0.0060% in the Oct. 15 five-asset reading, when 60.1% of accounts were long. Both readings reported $7.79 billion in Bitcoin open interest.

Open interest measures the value of contracts that remain outstanding; a change in that total alone does not show which direction traders expect prices to move. A positive funding rate means long traders pay short traders. Long-account shares count accounts on each side, rather than the value of their positions.
