Nearly 80% of recorded transactions were 0.01 BTC or less; the percentage counts transactions rather than Bitcoin transferred.

Nearly four in five recorded Bitcoin (BTC) transactions were 0.01 BTC or less, a percentage that counts transactions rather than the amount of bitcoin they transferred.

Because the percentage is based on transaction entries, it cannot establish how much Bitcoin changed hands; a transaction's size does not alter its place as one count.

The count also does not identify whether a transfer paid for goods or services, a distinction covered in EconoTimes' explanation of Bitcoin transaction counts and spending.
