Strategy, formerly MicroStrategy, has significantly increased its Bitcoin holdings, purchasing 20,356 Bitcoins for $1.99 billion between February 18 and 23, 2025. The average purchase price was 97,514 per Bitcoin.As of February 23, 2025, Strategy holds a total of 499,096 Bitcoins, acquired for approximately $33.1 billion at an average price of $66,357 per Bitcoin.
This latest acquisition was funded through a $2 billion private offering of convertible senior notes due in 2030, with an option for initial purchasers to acquire an additional $300 million in notes. Strategy reported a BTC Yield of 6.9% from January 1 to February 23, 2025, based on the percentage change in the ratio of Bitcoin holdings to assumed diluted shares outstanding.
Despite the large Bitcoin purchases, Strategy's stock has underperformed in 2025. This underperformance is attributed to concerns about the sustainability of its Bitcoin acquisition strategy and current market conditions.
