Bitcoin (BTC) gained 1.41% over 24 hours in an Oct. 19 snapshot, yet its $82,896.19 price remained $461.87 below the 20-day simple moving average (SMA).

The 20-day SMA stood at $83,358.06. The longest benchmark listed, the 200-day SMA, was $72,614.45; the 50-day SMA was $81,539.79 and the seven-day SMA was $82,173.69.

A moving average compares the quoted price with an average calculated over a specified period. In this snapshot, Bitcoin was above the seven-day SMA even as it remained below the 20-day SMA. The 50-day and 200-day SMAs were also lower than the quoted price.

The 14-period relative strength index measured 52.01. The moving average convergence divergence (MACD) histogram registered 0.0000; the MACD and signal lines each read 87.5496.

A separate Oct. 15 reading used a 20-day exponential moving average. Its different calculation and date mean it cannot be directly compared with the Oct. 19 simple moving average.
