At 7 p.m. ET (23:00 UTC) Saturday, Oct. 31, Bitcoin (BTC) led five crypto perpetual-futures markets with $7.53 billion in open positions, while four of the assets recorded 24-hour increases.
Solana (SOL) was the only market to decline, with open interest down 0.17%. BTC increased 2.47%, Dogecoin (DOGE) rose 2.14%, XRP gained 1.37% and Ether (ETH) climbed 1.30%. DOGE had the smallest total but the second-largest percentage increase, behind BTC.
Ether was second by open-interest total at $5.31 billion. SOL had $840.3 million, followed by XRP at $333.6 million and DOGE at $192.1 million.
The funding rate was 0.0100% per eight hours for BTC, SOL and XRP. DOGE's rate was 0.0066%, while ETH was the only negative reading at -0.0061%. At a positive funding rate, traders holding long positions pay those holding short positions. The corresponding annualized rates were 10.9% for BTC, SOL and XRP, 7.2% for DOGE and -6.7% for ETH.
Long accounts made up a majority in all five markets. SOL had the largest long-account share at 75.4%, followed by ETH at 73.7%, XRP at 72.7% and BTC at 72.1%. DOGE had the lowest share at 69.3%. Short-account shares were 24.6% for SOL, 26.4% for ETH, 27.3% for XRP, 27.9% for BTC and 30.7% for DOGE.
Open interest reflects the value of outstanding contracts, while account percentages show the split between accounts positioned long and short. These figures describe different aspects of the markets: ETH had the only negative funding rate even though 73.7% of its accounts were long.
A separate Oct. 31 five-market reading at 7 a.m. ET (11:00 UTC) also put BTC at $7.53 billion, then up 1.48% over 24 hours. Ether was at $5.24 billion in that earlier count, while SOL stood at $834.3 million, DOGE at $191.3 million and XRP at $330.3 million. The earlier 24-hour changes were positive for Ether (0.73%), SOL (3.19%) and DOGE (0.38%), but XRP fell 2.66%. Bitcoin's total was the same in both readings, though its reported 24-hour increase was higher in the evening snapshot.
