Bitcoin (BTC) trading activity rose Thursday, but the asset lost 1.98% to $81,717.92 by 8:02 a.m. ET (12:02 UTC), while sentiment indicators moved higher in the same market snapshot.

CoinMarketCap data showed 24-hour trading volume at $38.36 billion, up 45.05%. The increase accompanied the price decline, but the figures do not identify whether buyers or sellers accounted for the added turnover.

The Fear & Greed Index from Alternative reached 68, compared with 63 on Wednesday and 53 a week earlier.

CryptoQuant recorded a net inflow of 33,993 BTC to exchanges, where reserves totaled 2,493,694 BTC. More BTC entered trading venues than left, but an inflow alone does not show that a sale followed.

Binance data put the funding rate at -0.0031%, equivalent to -3.4% on an annualized basis.
