XRP was the only one of five major crypto assets to add open interest in a Saturday reading, while Solana recorded the largest retreat and Bitcoin remained the largest by outstanding value.
The data were timestamped 11:00 UTC Saturday, Oct. 17 (7 a.m. ET). The reading covered Bitcoin (BTC), Solana (SOL), Ether (ETH), XRP and Dogecoin (DOGE).
Solana had $929.5 million in open interest after a 4.25% contraction over 24 hours. Bitcoin registered $7.68 billion, down 0.69%. Ether stood at $5.52 billion, a 0.58% decline, and Dogecoin had $215.7 million, down 0.35%. XRP moved against the broader direction: its open interest advanced 0.68% to $403.5 million.
Bitcoin and Solana had the group's highest funding rate, each at 0.0035% per eight-hour interval, or 3.8% annualized. Ether's rate was 0.0023% per eight hours (2.5% annualized), Dogecoin's was 0.0015% (1.7%), and XRP's was 0.0005% (0.6%). Rates were above zero for all five assets. In perpetual futures, positive funding sends periodic payments from long traders to short traders.
Account data showed a long-account share of 63.2% for Bitcoin, 71.2% for Solana, 74% for Ether, 74.3% for XRP and 71.4% for Dogecoin. XRP had the largest long-account share in the reading.
