Bitcoin (BTC) registered 43% annualized realized volatility over the past year, below both its 10-year average and its reading five years earlier, though some company shares were steadier.

Bitcoin's 10-year average was 64%, while its reading five years earlier was 81%. Realized volatility captures the size of past price moves regardless of whether prices rose or fell.

The 43% figure exceeded Amazon's roughly 31% and JPMorgan's approximately 20%. Coinbase shares registered about 70%, and Sandisk shares about 110%, putting both above Bitcoin on the same measure.

Four individual shares do not represent the S&P 500 as a whole, and changing the stock changes Bitcoin's relative ranking.

The measure does not show whether Bitcoin gained value over the past year or indicate how sharply its price will move next.
