In a Nov. 4 announcement, Bitget Wallet said its virtual card is now available in Nigeria, allowing users to spend stablecoin balances at supported Visa merchants as digital-asset activity remains high.

Users apply through the app and must activate the card before connecting it to Google Pay. Bitget says it supports online and contactless payments at participating Visa merchants. Eligible purchases earn 2% Assetback, with the rate able to increase to 3%. Rewards may be received as USD Coin (USDC), Bitcoin (BTC), gold, tokenized U.S. stocks or exchange-traded funds. The card gives users a way to use stablecoin balances for purchases, while the launch rewards offer a temporary incentive to try it.

From July 2024 through June 2025, Chainalysis measured more than $92.1 billion in on-chain crypto value reaching Nigeria, close to triple South Africa’s figure. An International Monetary Fund (IMF) report estimates Nigeria accounted for about 60% of Sub-Saharan Africa’s stablecoin inflows from late 2019 to early 2025. The report says stablecoins made up more than 65% of Nigeria’s crypto inflows in 2024; its flow data use Tether (USDT) and USDC as proxies and extend through January 2025.

Chainalysis links Nigeria’s crypto activity to persistent inflation and difficulty accessing foreign currency. The IMF says dollar-denominated stablecoins can give households and businesses another way to hold and use foreign currency outside domestic banks.

Bitget also says its Nigerian services include U.S. dollar and euro virtual accounts that convert incoming international transfers into stablecoins. Another service converts stablecoin balances into naira for deposits to Nigerian bank accounts.

The welcome campaign runs Nov. 3-13, 2026. Eligible new users receive a guaranteed $2 reward, while completing tasks can bring their total to $20. Spending a cumulative $10 through Google Pay or Google Play qualifies users for another 2 USDC. The offer ends Nov. 13.
