One key factor that will ensure more and more expansion of digital currency ecosystem is, of course, education. A major section of population is either unaware of this ongoing digital revolution or often has limited or incorrect information. This in turn hampers the efforts of participants in this space to take this revolution mainstream.
Bitcoin startup Purse has partnered with the Blockchain Education Network (BEN) to present the World’s First Intercollegiate Blockchain Trivia Competition (Blockchain Madness). The competition started on March 15th and features students from MIT, UC Berkeley, NYU, Georgia Tech, Univeristy of Iowa, University of Toronto, Laurier, Queen’s University.
A team of blockchain and Bitcoin all’-stars from each university will compete in the Blockchain Madness Intercollegiate Trivia and prove their knowledge on bitcoin and the blockchain. The Merkle reported that during the first week, Laurier faced off against McGill, while Georgia Tech took on MIT. The second round will start on March 22 and there is no end date scheduled yet.
The Blockchain Education Network (BEN) is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to forming a robust network of student groups for blockchain education, development, and innovation. Nicholas Abouzeid, Director of Operations for the Blockchain Education Network, told Bitcoin Magazine:
“We believe in providing an environment that allows students to connect and where successful grassroots initiatives become global movements.”
The BEN says that Blockchain Madness was created “to shine a spotlight on the academic hubs that are at the forefront of the blockchain grassroots education.”
