Bluesky's daily activity reached 2026 highs during U.S. midterm results, while its Nov. 4 likes total came within one million of the social network's prior record.
Likes totaled 44 million on Nov. 4, compared with the platform's 45 million single-day record from November 2024. Bluesky also logged 4.8 million posts and 2 million new follows that day. Posts, replies and likes each set daily highs for 2026 during the results period.
CEO Toni Schneider said election-period posts and likes each doubled, while new users joined and former users returned.
Chief Operating Officer Rose Wang said Bluesky use began to crest between 11 p.m. ET on Nov. 3 and 1 a.m. ET on Nov. 4, as election results came in. Compared with the previous 30-day averages, posts were 30% higher, likes were up 70% and link clicks rose 20%, Wang said.
At its busiest, the platform handled up to 35.8 gigabytes of data each second, a rate 200% higher than usual.
