Auto supplier BorgWarner said three China eMotor awards broaden its work across range-extended, battery-electric and hybrid vehicle programs, with collective production expected to begin in 2027 or 2028.

That production window applies to all three awards together. The company did not identify the automaker or suppliers involved, give a separate start date for each program, or disclose contract values or expected volumes.

For next-generation SUV platforms at an unnamed Chinese new energy vehicle maker, BorgWarner will continue supplying main-drive eMotor stator and rotor assemblies. The high-voltage hairpin system is designed for a 715 V architecture, with peak output of 300 kW and peak torque of 495 Nm.

A second award involves a next-generation range-extended vehicle platform tied to the China joint venture operations of an unnamed global automaker. BorgWarner will provide high-voltage hairpin P1 eMotor stator and rotor assemblies. The motor's listed peak power is 115 kW; the previous generation was rated at 100 kW.

The third program covers stator and rotor assemblies for a 130 kW P2 eMotor supplied to an unnamed electric-drive system supplier. BorgWarner says the motor's S-winding design is intended for hybrid applications across several vehicle programs serving global markets.

BorgWarner credited its engineering and production footprint in China with supporting the programs. The company said the awards expand its customer base and eMotor applications in the country.

Isabelle McKenzie, BorgWarner's vice president and president and general manager of PowerDrive Systems, said the awards would help the company “establish and expand” its eMotor business with customers in China. She also said the programs demonstrate the company's ability to meet varied application requirements through product performance, cost optimization and localized manufacturing.

A separate third-quarter release also listed the three China eMotor awards among nine awards across BorgWarner's portfolio announced Oct. 29. The company expects production for the three programs to begin in 2027 or 2028, but has not provided individual launch dates.
