German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius framed a larger European contribution to NATO as key to preserving its transatlantic character, Anadolu Agency reported Nov. 4.

Anadolu also reported that Pistorius congratulated Democrats after the U.S. midterm elections. His remarks connected a greater European role with NATO’s continued transatlantic character.

The Associated Press reported Democrats had won control of both chambers of Congress, while CBS News separately projected the same outcome. EconoTimes’ earlier midterm coverage said those accounts were not a final certified nationwide tally. That report also said President Donald Trump congratulated Democrats in a Nov. 3 call with CBS News and said he looked forward to working with them.

The Federal Election Commission (FEC) says state election offices certify results before the commission compiles them. Its published results archive did not yet include a 2026 compilation, according to the earlier report.
