Box, Inc. announced Nov. 5 an expanded collaboration with NVIDIA centered on enterprise search, while separately unveiling a workflow design tool as it seeks to connect business information with AI-driven tasks.

Box Context Retrieval, built with NVIDIA Nemotron Retriever embedding models, is designed to find relevant material among millions of files stored in Box. It can search scans and image, audio and video content, the company said. The system combines exact-term matches with searches based on meaning, and limits results to content each user is allowed to access.

Box said the system has the potential to improve search accuracy by 20% on Recall@5, reduce token use by 90% and answer questions four times faster. The company expects to make it generally available to Enterprise Advanced customers early in 2027, without specifying a date. NVIDIA Nemotron models, beginning with NVIDIA Nemotron 3 Ultra, are already available in Box AI for those customers.

Box described Context Retrieval as a way to give AI agents the business-specific information they need to do useful work. The company named financial analysts, legal professionals, clinical researchers, insurance auditors and university administrators as potential users. It also said developers could avoid maintaining separate retrieval pipelines.

In a separate announcement, Box introduced Box Architect, a tool for turning business goals into AI workflows. Teams can describe a goal in plain language, build and test a workflow, and include human reviewers at selected decision points, Box said. Architect is slated to begin beta rollout to Enterprise Advanced customers in Q4 2026.

“The real opportunity with AI is not just helping individuals work faster, but rethinking how entire business processes get done,” said Aaron Levie, Box’s co-founder and CEO.

The NVIDIA collaboration also includes plans to combine NVIDIA OpenShell’s secure runtime with Box’s content security and governance capabilities through Box Mount. Separately, Box expects new protections against unusual downloads, account takeovers, session hijacking, suspicious sharing and mass deletion early in 2027 for Enterprise Advanced and Shield customers.
