Burger King Japan introduces its "My Sweet Potato Pie," embracing the country's fall season. Part of the "Watakushi no" hot dessert series, this limited-time treat sources its main ingredient from the famed Naruto Kintoki sweet potatoes of Tokushima Prefecture.
In this case, Burger King will sell its "My Sweet Potato Pie" as Japan enters this month's Autumn season. The burger chain added a new pie to its "Watakushi no" series, which means hot dessert pies to celebrate the start of fall.
The root vegetable is also in season in the country; thus, it is the best flavor to offer customers. Moreover, sweet potatoes are largely synonymous with the fall season in the country. It is, in fact, one of the most commonly used ingredients for seasonal delicacies and goodies.
The country boasts an abundance of sweet potatoes, and the varieties are also wide-ranging. For Burger King's newest seasonal pie, it selected the ones under the Naruto Kintoki group. This class of the said root crop is famous among the sweet potato variety, and these are sourced from Tokushima Prefecture, as per SoraNews24.
In any case, the new Autumn sweet treat from Burger King Japan is available in restaurant outlets for a limited time. Locally, the dessert is called "Watakushi no Sweet Imo Pie," which translates to "My Sweet Potato Pie" in English.
The new dessert is slightly sweet, so customers will never get bored of the taste. The crust has a hint of coffee, bringing a slightly bitter taste to complement the mild sweetness. Paired with the fluffy texture of the filling and crispy crust, customers will surely crave this treat again and again.
In the press release, Burger King Japan announced that the new "My Sweet Potato Pie" is arriving in stores on Friday, Sept. 1. The company said that until Sept. 7, this hot dessert will retail at a discounted price of ¥220. After this date, the regular price of ¥240 will take effect. While the burger chain stated the pie is a limited-time offer, it did not mention the end date for the offering.
