BusinessDay and Northernview reported that Nigeria’s planned technology assessment will examine adoption in five sectors, giving policymakers and businesses a view of digital use across major parts of the economy.
SATH Foundation Africa says Nigeria’s National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) leads the recurring research project, while the foundation handles its delivery. SATH calls the effort Tech Outlook 2027; BusinessDay refers to the assessment as Nigeria Tech Outlook.
BusinessDay and Northernview named five proposed areas: healthcare, financial services, government services, telecommunications, and commerce and trade. BusinessDay reported that NITDA Director-General Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi said the review would assess technology access, use and productivity. The outlet also cited cybersecurity, data privacy and cloud computing, along with infrastructure, autonomous systems, artificial intelligence and digital trust, as areas for study.
SATH said findings from a Lagos forum held Oct. 20, 2026, would be incorporated into a research-led Tech Outlook Compendium, alongside policy and executive outputs. The foundation says the research is intended to help decision-makers anticipate technology changes. SATH Chairman Collins Onuegbu said the forum would bring industry leaders together to connect technology choices with business growth and policy.
BusinessDay reported that policymakers, businesses, investors and innovators are expected to use the assessment. The outlet also reported Abdullahi’s view that Nigeria’s digital competitiveness depends on reliable infrastructure, supportive policies, investment and collaboration.
BusinessDay describes the planned work as the first assessment. SATH’s website also carries a recap of a 2025 Tech Outlook event.
BusinessDay reported that the assessment is planned for release at the Digital Nigeria International Conference. The conference website lists Nov. 10–12, 2026, while NITDA’s events listing gives Nov. 10–13.
