As reports of security problems involving several crypto platforms circulated, Bybit said customers could keep trading and withdrawing funds and that its systems and user assets were unaffected.
Bybit said it was watching developments across the broader crypto sector and directed users to check its official channels for updates. Users were also told to watch for false information and phishing attempts, the exchange said.
CNBC said about $3 billion in crypto assets had been frozen. Zhao said Binance’s SpaceX shares were worth more than $1 billion.
Binance pledged to cover customer losses after a hack affected more than $6 billion in funds. About half the affected assets had been frozen, Bloomberg Television reported.
Reuters, citing a person familiar with the situation, reported that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and United States Secret Service (USSS) are working with Binance.
