The loonie weathered a record trade gap for Canada as oil prices surged above $60 a barrel for the first time this year.
Canada's trade deficit swelled to a record C$3.02 billion in March from a revised C$2.22 billion shortfall in February. The bigger trade gap can hold back first quarter growth which if realized would keep the door ajar to a rate cut.
