Stephen Hubbard’s release from Russian custody is the focus of a CBS News interview with his son and family lawyer, adding their perspectives to a release publicly addressed by U.S. and Russian leaders.
CBS News published the 31-minute, 35-second segment. The network identifies Coleman as Hubbard’s son and Martin De Luca as the family’s lawyer; Olivia Rinaldi leads the conversation.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the release on Oct. 21 during a meeting with U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff in St. Petersburg and said Hubbard was at Pulkovo Airport. Hubbard’s Russian lawyers at EPAM Law said he received a pardon and was on his way from the penal colony to the United States that day. EconoTimes previously covered Hubbard’s release from Russian custody.
U.S. President Donald Trump said Oct. 20 that he had asked Putin to release Hubbard. The Associated Press reported Hubbard was the second American freed by Russia in about two months, after Robert Gilman in August.
