After Democrats’ midterm gains, a CBS News preview shows Ross Douthat asking President Donald Trump whether he could go six months without insulting Democrats if doing so would help get a deal done.

The question was hypothetical. The preview does not include Trump’s answer or identify what kind of agreement Douthat had in mind.

CBS’ Nov. 6 election update said Democrats had gained more than 40 House seats and seven Senate seats. More than two dozen House races remained uncalled, while Mississippi and Alaska Senate races were still too close to call.

CBS said it recorded the interview at the White House on Friday and described it as Trump’s first sit-down interview since Democrats’ midterm victories. The network said Douthat also asked about Republican losses, congressional investigations, the wars in Iran and Ukraine, and the economy.

EconoTimes previously covered Trump’s remarks about possible Cabinet changes in the same CBS interview, along with CBS’ report on Susie Wiles’ departure.

CBS scheduled the interview for Sunday at 7 p.m. ET and 7 p.m. PT on CBS and Paramount+. The network said an extended version was expected on YouTube later that night.
