CNN chief international anchor Christiane Amanpour plans to leave the network in June 2027 as her interview program winds down, ending an association that began with her first job there in 1983.
CNN said Oct. 19 that Amanpour will move to a weekly schedule in January 2027 and conclude later that year. Amanpour will continue reporting for the network through June.
The 43-year span dates from Amanpour’s first CNN job, rather than uninterrupted service. CNN announced her return to its international lineup in 2012 under an arrangement that also retained her role at ABC News.
In her departure statement, Amanpour thanked the program teams and field crews who had worked with her. She added, “always be truthful, not neutral.” CNN Chairman Mark Thompson told staff that he and Amanpour had discussed her decision for several months.
Amanpour said she plans to continue The Ex Files, her podcast with Jamie Rubin, and pursue other projects. Her PBS program, Amanpour & Company, is due to end in December 2026.
