CVB Financial Corp. reported a 15.8% year-over-year increase in diluted earnings per share for the quarter ended Sept. 30, its first full quarter with Heritage Commerce.
Diluted EPS reached 44 cents, compared with 38 cents a year earlier. Net earnings were $78.1 million, versus $52.6 million in the year-earlier quarter.
The agreement for the all-stock deal projected 13.2% merger accretion to 2027 earnings per share. That estimate is separate from the latest quarter’s reported year-over-year EPS increase. When announced Dec. 17, 2025, the transaction carried an approximate $811 million value, calculated using CVB Financial’s prior-day closing share price. CVB completed the acquisition April 17, 2026. The closing brought Heritage Bank of Commerce and Citizens Business Bank together under the transaction.
A $63.5 million year-over-year increase took net interest income to $179.1 million. Heritage’s full-quarter contribution made up much of the increase. On a tax-equivalent basis, net interest margin stood at 3.89%; it was 3.33% a year earlier and 3.72% in the second quarter of 2026.
Heritage acquisition expenses fell to $8.1 million in the third quarter from $31.4 million in the second. Noninterest expenses came to $90.5 million, versus $114.4 million in the prior quarter.
