Canada’s finance minister will set out economic priorities at two events Nov. 2, offering a preview of the agenda ahead of the government’s 2026 budget.

Department of Finance Canada said François-Philippe Champagne, the minister of finance and national revenue, will appear at events hosted by the Canadian Club of Toronto and the Canadian Club of Ottawa.

At the Toronto event, Champagne will deliver remarks and join an armchair discussion on the government’s priorities. The department said those include affordability and an effort to build a “stronger, more independent and resilient economy.” The Ottawa discussion will consider the government’s economic priorities and growth agenda.

Journalists may attend either event after registering through the relevant Canadian Club event page, the department said.

Champagne announced Oct. 20 that Budget 2026 would be tabled Nov. 5, according to earlier coverage of the budget date.
