Canada’s Privy Council Office has scheduled a Thursday technical briefing on planned national security measures, giving accredited media advance information while restricting its use until an embargo expires at 10 a.m. ET.

The advisory does not name the measures, describing them only as forthcoming federal steps concerning national security. The advisory says the briefing is for background information only; after the embargo lifts, reporters may identify the information as coming from senior government officials.

The hybrid session will take place in Room 325 of Ottawa’s Wellington Building, with a Zoom link provided by the Parliamentary Press Gallery. Accredited Gallery members may attend; other media can ask the Gallery for temporary access. Participants may not release briefing materials or discuss the information publicly until 10 a.m. ET. Recording for broadcast is prohibited.
