Cardano has recorded its highest blockchain transaction activity in five years, processing 1,780,896 transactions during Epoch 660, which ran from October 6 to October 11, 2026. The milestone highlights growing network usage even as ADA struggles to maintain its price momentum.
According to blockchain analytics platform Cexplorer.io, the latest figure surpassed Cardano's previous record of 1.56 million transactions, established in November 2021 during Epoch 304. Unlike earlier activity spikes driven by cryptocurrency market speculation, the recent increase was largely associated with decentralized governance participation.
The surge coincided with important voting activities under Cardano's Voltaire governance era. Delegated Representatives (DReps) participated in on-chain decisions concerning the blockchain's economic structure, including proposals to reduce the minimum stake pool cost, known as minPoolCost.
Increased wallet participation and governance transactions likely contributed to the record-breaking activity. Although the proposals failed to secure the required quorum, the voting process demonstrated Cardano's ability to handle substantial blockchain traffic without significant disruptions.
Network statistics showed an average of 83.83 transactions per block, while total transaction output reached 46.71 billion ADA during the five-day period.
Despite the elevated activity, Cardano maintained relatively affordable transaction fees. The blockchain generated approximately 337,720 ADA in fees, with average transaction costs remaining near 0.19 ADA, equivalent to roughly $0.05.
However, Cardano's impressive network performance failed to translate into positive price action for its native cryptocurrency.
ADA declined 3.58% to approximately $0.2429, reflecting continued selling pressure despite the blockchain's operational milestone.
Technical indicators also suggested weakening bullish momentum. According to TradingView charts, ADA failed to sustain a breakout above the $0.2600 resistance level as a bearish divergence emerged on the Relative Strength Index (RSI).
The divergence indicated that buying momentum was weakening even as prices attempted to climb, eventually pushing ADA below key moving averages.
Meanwhile, Cardano's subsequent Epoch 661 continued showing elevated network utilization, with capacity usage reaching approximately 38%.
The contrasting developments highlight a growing disconnect between Cardano's blockchain adoption and ADA's market performance. While governance participation and transaction volumes demonstrate expanding network engagement, investors remain cautious about the cryptocurrency's short-term price outlook.
