Cardinal Health raised its fiscal 2027 non-GAAP earnings forecast after first-quarter revenue reached $67.5 billion, with results diverging between its pharmaceutical and medical distribution units.
Revenue increased 5% from $64.0 billion in the year-earlier quarter. The company set its new non-GAAP diluted earnings-per-share range at $12.80 to $13.00, up from $12.40 to $12.60, adding $0.40 to each end of the previous forecast.
Cardinal Health said the new fiscal 2027 range equates to EPS growth of 17% to 19% against a fiscal 2026 baseline adjusted to remove a tariff-refund benefit. Measured against reported fiscal 2026 results, the projected increase is 14% to 15%.
Pharmaceutical and Specialty Solutions revenue rose 6% to $62.6 billion. Cardinal Health said sales of brand and specialty medicines to existing customers contributed to the increase. Segment profit climbed 17% to $783 million, reflecting brand and specialty products and the generics program.
Global Medical Products and Distribution generated about $3.2 billion in revenue. The segment's profit fell 28% to $33 million, with distribution and foreign-exchange pressures partly counterbalanced by growth in Cardinal Health Brand.
Across the company, GAAP diluted earnings per share climbed 27% to $2.38, while non-GAAP diluted earnings per share rose 28% to $3.26. Cardinal Health also completed a $500 million share repurchase program during the quarter.
